Materials
Our products are entirely hand-made from pure silk.

Colours
The original colour of the fabric is white and the silk is treated in two ways:
- machine-dyed, that gives a solid, even colour;
- hand-painted, that gives natural colour variations on the fabric.

Designs
The artists/craftsmen who work on the silk have at least 15 years’ professional experience and prepare the designs using traditional colours and techniques.
On the back of a light layer of painted silk two layers of hand-made rice paper are applied. The designs may be of a single colour or various colours, which derive from the mixture of natural pigments.
Due to the natural process of manufacture, the final colours may vary slightly from the original swatch.

Maintenance
Our fabrics have been treated prior to being painted with a special protective solution. Any stains on the background can be easily removed using a clean, damp cloth or a damp sponge.
If a stain has to be removed from a painted area, this can be done using a clean, damp cloth. For more stubborn stains we provide inserts of flowers, birds and butterflies.

Finish
An acrylic waterproof glaze can be applied at the end of installation to make the product more durable but it changes the appearance of the wallpaper a little. Additional layers of glaze enhance the protection but diminish the colours’ brightness of the design and background. We recommend an opaque acrylic glaze.

Re-use
The silk can be removed from the walls peeling it away from the rice paper underneath so that it can used elsewhere.

Natural techniques
All methods used are completely natural; from the raw material to the finished product.
